Today is the anniversary of a great day in history: 75 years ago, on this day in 1933, the 21st amendment was passed. For those lacking in their Constitution knowledge, that little legal language ended the Prohibition and thus put a stop to a nationwide ban on booze.
You know what that means… bring on the binge drinking!
To celebrate the freedom to drink alcohol, check out these Repeal Day parties going on around the country:
New York
Prohibition: How could this bar not have a Repeal Day celebration? Drink in the classics and at a discounted price.
Char No. 4: With 300 whiskeys on the menu, you can’t go wrong. But the Repeal day Special offers a 16-ounce beer, 1 ounce tasting rye and a chopped pork sandwich for $17 from 5 to 7 p.m.
The Jake Walk: The name comes from the crooked walk that comes from drinking bad black-market booze during the Prohibition so you know it’s authentic. Tonight go for the two specials: The Jake Walk and The Jake Leg.

Mio: Go back in time for Happy Hour specials on Prohibition-era drink like gin rickey, brandy Alexander and French 75, but be warned… the time travel may leave you more than a little dizzy.
Hudson Restaurant and Lounge: Thank God they’re legal - Check out the half-price whiskey and American domestic brews from 5 to 7:30. Half price means you can drink twice as much.
Chicago
Moonshine Restaurant: Go all out and enjoy professional swign dancers, period music, flappers and gangsters and giveaways… oh and alcohol, lots of alcohol.
San Francisco
21st Amendment Brewery: It’s in the name of the bar!
New Orleans
Dewar’s, supposedly the first legal whiskey to arrive in the U.S. after Prohibition, will be celebrating with vintage cocktails at Pat O’Brien’s, Antoine’s, Tujague’s, Napoleon House, Hotel Monteleone, Court of Two Sisters, Commander’s Palace, and Lafitte’s Black Smith Shop.
