On December 15, 2009, the American actress Gabourey Sidibe was nominated for a Golden Globe in the category of Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture Drama for her performance in Precious. She has already won the Best Actress Award at the Independent Spirit Awards on March 6, 2010. She has also received a nomination for a Best Actress Academy Award.
