Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai on location Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, shooting for the multilingual film Endhiran (Robot), perhaps one of the costliest Indian films ever produced in India, estimated to cost about Rs. 190 crores.
Machu Picchu, meaning ‘Old Mountain’, is a pre-Columbian Inca site located 2,430 meters (7,970 feet) above sea level, on a mountain ridge above the Urubamba Valley in Peru. It is 80 kilometers (50 miles) northwest of Cuzco and through which the Urubamba River flows. Archaeologists believe that Machu Picchu was built for the Inca emperor Pachacuti (1438-1472 AD). Machu Picchu, mostly referred to as ‘The Lost City of the Incas’, is the most familiar icon of the Inca World and Inca culture and civilization.
