Miss World 2010 Part 14 : Beauty With a Purpose Fast Track
Natasha Metto from Kenya was announced as the winner of Beauty With a Purpose award during a surprise announcement during Miss World Dress Rehearsal at Crown of Beauty Theatre. Her social project involved a collaboration with Miss Kenya 2005 to educate and treat the jigger worm epidemic in her country. Second place went to Ghana, for her project of freeing Child slaves in Ghana, while third place went to El Salvador, for her work building a homes in rural villages in El Salvador.
Beauty With a Purpose itself was invented as Miss World slogan in 1980 to show that Miss World is not only all about physical beauty. Since then the winners of Miss World have been involved in various charity events around the world, including the most memorable one in 2004, when Julia Mantilla voluntarily climbed Himalaya in order to raise funds for humanitarian cause. It became a Fast Track event for the first time ever in 2005.
Congratulations Kenya ... see you in semifinal round!
