Cake and Cage the Elephant Knock Taylor Swift Off No. 1 on Hot 200

After ruling two quiet weeks of Billboard Hot 200, Taylor Swift finally gives up her hot spot to rockers Cake and Cage the Elephant in this also-slow week. The former band go straight to No. 1 on the first week of their album "Showroom of Compassion" with just 44,000 copies.

This becomes the lowest-selling No. 1 album since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales data in 1991. The previous record was set by Taylor Swift's "Speak
Now" just last week as the country music album took the first spot with only 52,000 units.

Cage the Elephant, meanwhile, have their album sitting at the Top 10 - their effort "Thank You, Happy Birthday" arrives at the runner-up position with 39,000 copies. Swift was pushed to fall two spots to No. 3 with another 35,000 (down 32%).

The other albums which suffer fall are Bruno Mars's "Doo - Wops & Hooligans" from No. 3 to No. 4, Nicki Minaj's "Pink Friday" from No. 2 to No. 5, Rihanna's "Loud" from No. 6 to No. 8, and Kanye West's "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" from No. 7 to rounding up the Top 10.

Meanwhile, the ones who take the advantage of the quiet week and rise up to higher places are "Country Strong" soundtrack and Mumford & Sons' "Sigh No More". The former jumps from No. 10 to No. 6, and the latter moves from No. 8 to No. 9.

The next highest chart debut after Cake and Cage the Elephant's albums comes from Steel Magnolia's self-titled debut album which enters at No. 7 with 28,000 copies. Getting kicked out of the list are "Tron Legacy" soundtrack by Daft Punk, Eminem's "Recovery" and Jason Aldean's "My Kinda Party".

While the albums chart has its lowest-selling No. 1 album, the Digital Singles chart has its best sales week as Britney Spears lands at No. 1 with 411,000 downloads. She broke Swift's "Today Was a Fairytale" record (325,000 downloads), and coincidentally Swift held the title after breaking Spears' previous record.
