Palin's Church Up In Flames, Literally

This was just unnecessary - and wrong.

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's church was damaged badly by arson this past weekend.

Estimates are that the Wasilla Bible Church has $1 million in damages.

According to the Central Mat-Su fire chief, James Steele, the fire was set Friday night while a handful of people, including two children, were inside. Thankfully, no one was injured due to the fire.

Steele said the fire is being investigated as an arson attack and did not know of any recent threats to the church.

Palin apologized on Saturday through a statement saying she was sorry if the fire was connected to any "undeserved negative attention" from her campaign as the Republican potential VP.

Does she always think it's about her?

Authorities added that they did not see an immediate and clear connection to whether Palin's association to the church was relevant to the arson.

Steele said, "It's hard to say at this point. Everything is just speculation."

The church's pastor declined to comment if they had received any recent threats.

But the same church was under major scrutiny after Palin was nomiated as John McCain's running mate. It seems the church was promoting a "Love Won Out" conference that promised to "help men and women dissatisfied with living homosexually understand that same-sex attractions can be overcome."

That's cause right there for some crazies to burn down the place.

Palin's spokesman Bill McAllister said "Whatever the motives of the arsonist, the governor has faith in the scriptural passage that what was intended for evil will in some way be used for good."
