They'll be rocking around more than just the Christmas tree all weekend, as a who's who of the rock 'n' roll world will hit the stage to raise money to benefit the less fortunate around New England.
Eddie Money, Joey Belladonna of Anthrax, Terry Ilous of XYZ, Larry Hoppen of Orleans and James Montgomery are among the acts scheduled for the upcoming Rock4Xmas mini-tour, with all proceeds being donated to local charities that help families in need enjoy a happy holiday season.
"These stars have already lived that partying, rock 'n' roll lifestyle," said Wayne Morrison of Wareham, event organizer and head of the Rock4Xmas Foundation. "Now they just want to help."
Three big shows highlight this year's mini-tour. The first show is set for tonight at the Hard Rock Café at Foxwoods Casino in Uncasville, Conn.
On Saturday, the legendary Eddie Money joins in as the fun heads Harmony Hall in North Yarmouth, Maine. The mini-tour wraps up Sunday at the Newport Blues Café in Newport, R.I., with Mr. Money again headlining.
The bill for each show will also include Steve Holland with Scrawny Ronnie, Patrick Johansson of Yngwie Malmsteen, Grace Morrison and special guest After the Crash. Visit www.Rock4Xmas.com for all the show information and line-up for each show, as well as video and audio clips. Tickets for each show are just $20.
"These shows are always very intimate," Mr. Morrison said. "When the performers aren't on stage, they're out meeting the people and signing autographs. They really want to meet the people of the community they're helping."
"We know with the way the economy is, it's hard to find the cash to go out to rock shows," he said. "We want to keep it affordable, so that people can still get that good feeling from helping others without hurting themselves financially."
Mr. Morrison owns Morrison Music and Production, a company that represents and works with acts such as Ronnie James Dio, James Montgomery, Badfinger, Dokken, Loverboy, Tesla, and Rick Derringer.
